Streaming platforms have become a global force in the video game industry, with more people watching gaming videos on YouTube and Twitch than Netflix, HBO, and Hulu combined. However, sharing VR game experiences through video is complicated. Streamers can capture footage from the VR headset feed, which can be nauseating for their viewers to watch in 2D. VREAL is working closely with VR game developers on a VR game streaming solution so that viewers can be in full VR with their favorite streamers. In this session, VREAL will share learnings from two VR games: 'SUPERHOT VR' and 'Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality'.

This talk will be about the challenges and benefits of VR streaming, how developers can capture a spectator audience for their VR game, and also how streaming can benefit virtual reality games.

    Intended Audience

The target audience is primarily VR game developers, particularly those trying to figure out how to bring their content to wider audiences through spectating/live streaming.
